A group of 13 Missouri state employees cliam the $224 million
A group of 13 Missouri state employees, who work for the Department of Social Services Family Support Division/Child Support Enforcement in Florissant, Missouri, have claimed the $224.2 million Powerball jackpot from the April 12 drawing. The jackpot is the largest prize ever won in the Missouri Lottery's 20-year history and the seventh largest Powerball jackpot ever won since the game's beginning.
Eleven of the members put $5 into the pool and two members contributed $2.50. The jackpot prize will be split 12 ways. All of the members plan to take the cash amount, which works out to be approximately $8.5 million each before taxes for the 11 members who contributed $5 and approximately $4.2 million before taxes for the two members who contributed $2.50.
The winners report that new groups are formed for drawings depending on who would like to play, and employees take turns buying the tickets.

The Mega Millions jackpot continues to climb,
as a total of 571,001 tickets from coast to coast
were winners in the Friday, May 12 drawing.
Since no ticket matched all six numbers to win
the estimated $80 million jackpot, the jackpot
for the Tuesday, May 16, 2006 drawing grows to an
estimated $94 million or a cash value of
approximately $94 million.
The winning numbers in Friday’s drawing were:
06-36-39-45-52 and the Mega Ball number was 45.
A total of 9 tickets came within a heartbeat of

Truck Driver Hauls Away $100,000 Lottery Win
ATLANTA – Truck driver Johnny Campbell hauled away a lottery win when he decided to purchase a Georgia Lottery instant game ticket. Mr. Campbell played $100,000 Club and won the game’s $100,000 top prize.
The Moultrie resident was so surprised that he asked a co-worker to look at the ticket. “I said, ‘Check this thing out for me, make sure it’s right,’ ” Mr. Campbell explained.
Mr. Campbell’s wife, Judy, attended Moultrie Technical College with the help of a HOPE grant. The 57-year-old plans to use part of his winnings to pay bills and then save the remainder.
The winning ticket was purchased at Inland #0596, located at 1000 First Ave. SE in Moultrie.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.

$265 MILLION JACKPOT HIT IN CINCINNATI IS CLAIMED; Winning Trust Chooses Cash Option
CINCINNATI – Cincinnati’s first Mega Millions jackpot winner claimed in trust at the Ohio Lottery’s Cleveland headquarters. Todd A Felthaus, trust officer for PNC Bank, trustee, filed the claim on behalf of the WFJ Trust. The $265 million jackpot was hit April 18.
The winner chose the cash option value of the prize, totaling $148.1 million. After tax withholdings, the trust will receive a check for $102.2 million.
Those interested in more information can contact PNC Bank, 201 E. 5th Street in Cincinnati.
The ticket was sold by a Kroger store located on West Corry Street in Cincinnati. The winner purchased an auto lotto ticket with five wagers, winning on the fourth line. The winning numbers were: 13-14-25-34-50+6.

A Powerball player in St. Louis has won the April 12 Powerball jackpot worth $224.2 million, the largest prize ever won in the Missouri Lottery's 20-year history and the seventh largest Powerball jackpot ever awarded. The winning ticket was sold at QuikTrip, 2791 Dunn Road in St. Louis. The winner should sign the back of their ticket and contact the Missouri Lottery.
$853,492 Powerball Tickets to Expire!
Two Powerball tickets worth an incredible $853,492 each will expire soon if the winners do not step forward. One ticket was purchased on October 19, 2005 at Hebron BP, 2144 Kilgore Place, Hebron, Kentucky. The other missing ticket was purchased in Littleton, Colorado. Both tickets were purchased for the October 19, 2005 Powerball drawing worth $340 million. The winners of the missing tickets matched the first five white ball numbers to win Powerball’s second tier prize of $200,000. The tickets also shared in the Match 5 Bonus prize pool, winning an additional $653,492 each for the total prize of $853,492! A couple of months ago he won $100. It could have been more, but he didn’t have Power Play. Kevin said he learned from that – since then he has always added the Power Play option. That proved to be a very smart decision. Kevin matched 5 white balls to win $200,000, and because he also had purchased the Power Play option, his prize was increased by that night’s multiplier of 5, for a total win of $1,000,000.

"It wasn’t until a lottery official showed us we’d actually won $1 million that it really hit us." The Rays are now winners of the largest single prize in the Oklahoma Lottery’s brief history. They matched five white balls that won them the normal $200,000 Powerball prize and then multiplied it by “5” with the Power Play option.

The February 18th drawing was a record setting jackpot. In addition to the jackpot winner, there were 42 winners that matched the 5 white balls. As far as his $667,142 windfall for matching 5 numbers, he knows exactly what he is going to do with it. He is sharing it with his wife, his daughter, and two grandsons who accompanied him to Hoosier Lottery Headquarters in Indianapolis to claim the winnings. As for John and his wife's portion, they are donating that to the Shriners Burn Institute, a children's hospital in Cincinnati, where the Stratman's were active volunteers for over ten years.

Construction manager Vasilev Amaritan of Chicago,

What was once a dream became reality for 20 workers at a medical laboratory in Clinton, Iowa. After three years of consistently playing Powerball twice a week, Saturday turned out to be the group's lucky night. Each woman usually puts in $1 for every Powerball drawing, but the group bumped it up to $2 a piece for Saturday's record $365 million jackpot. Beth Determan of Clinton bought the group's tickets on Friday. Determan said she had a premonition the group would win something big just days before the drawing. Kansas Woman Claims Match 5 Powerball Prize!
A 49-year-old Abilene woman has come forward to claim her Match 5 prize. Linda Cheever won a $467,142 cash bonus in addition to the normal $200,000 prize for matching the first five numbers. Cheever was all smiles today when she claimed her ticket at Lottery headquarters. I wasn't really sure how much I had won until I got here, Cheever said. She stops almost every morning at a local retailer on her way to work to pick up biscuits and gravy and an iced tea. She also makes sure she has tickets for every Powerball and Super Kansas drawing. I usually buy a couple of scratch tickets every day too, Cheever said. It's like I always say you're not going to win if you don't play!

A pre-school teacher from Lake St. Louis recently had two pleasant surprises after the record $365 million Powerball jackpot on Feb. 18. Jeri Whyte first discovered the night of the drawing that she matched all five white-ball numbers to win the second-level prize of $200,000. Second, Whyte found out the next day that there was a Match 5 Bonus prize due to the record jackpot, which would bring her total winnings of $667,142. Whyte and her husband, Jim, plan to invest most of their prize money. "We might fix up the house a little bit," she said. "We'll give some to charity. We'll share with some family members. I'll give some to my dad who owns a boxing gym in St. Louis County."

Cheever was all smiles today when she claimed her ticket at Lottery headquarters. I wasn't really sure how much I had won until I got here, Cheever said. it didn't even dawn on us until we were driving to Louisville how
close we'd come. While the big one would have been nice,
I feel pretty good with where we are now."

UK national lottery company Camelot has been fined £90,000
following problems with the launch of its online system
in 2004.
Camelot's online subscription service,
introduced in September and October 2004,
allowed lottery players to pay online with
a debit card or set up a direct debit to be
automatically entered for the Lotto or
Thunderball draws for a set period of time.
But problems with the initial launch resulted
in incorrect charging and crediting of some players
accounts and disruption to draw entries,
including failed and duplicate entries.
The "teething problems" with the software,
as Camelot referred to them, were resolved by the
company within a couple of months of the launch of
the online service.
An investigation by the National Lottery Commission (NLC),
however, found Camelot failed to operate an adequate
system of internal control in the implementation and
initial operation of the subscriptions system and failed
to report the problems to the NLC immediately.
The NLC fined Camelot £90,000 for breaches of its
licence obligations but said it is confident that
all affected players have been identified and
compensated accordingly and that funds for good
causes were not adversely affected.
Annette Lovell, deputy CEO of the NLC,
said in a statement: "We are satisfied that the
issues which arose in September and October 2004
have now been dealt with but we will continue to
monitor the operation of the subscriptions service."
Camelot said in a statement: "The issue affected
a small number of players, and prompt action was
taken to ensure that players suffered no financial
loss. This is a historical issue which occurred
in 2004 - and Camelot has since gone on to develop
the most successful interactive lottery in the world."

BATAGRAM, Pakistan -- The mayor looks at
the shabby tents where earthquake victims have
lived for the five months since their mountain
village was destroyed.
Ihsan Khan, 47, is not like any other
government official in this country. He is a former
Chicago resident and Northern Illinois University student,
a one-time cab driver in Washington, D.C., and a citizen
of both the U.S. and Pakistan. He is also a
multimillion-dollar Powerball winner who was
elected mayor of his hometown district in Pakistan
two days before the devastating Oct. 8 earthquake.
Now Khan is helping his destroyed district
with his lottery winnings.
On this day, Khan is not happy with what he sees in the
government refugee camp--the people cooking over stoves
in cramped tents, the tent that caught fire the day before,
the tents pitched on sticks.
"This is appalling," Khan said. "What you see here--they could have done better than this."
This is his home, and he feels it is his responsibility.
After spending half his life in the U.S., Khan has left
his American Dream behind, or at least put it on hold,
to help the place where he grew up. Khan won election
as nazim, or mayor, of Batagram district after deciding
to run against the local families who had controlled
this region for generations. Nothing his opponents
called him--"American Dollar Man" or "Lottery Man"--
kept him from getting votes.
