MEGA MILLIONS ESTIMATED JACKPOT GROWS TO $31 MILLION
More Than 355,000 Tickets Win Prizes In Friday`s Drawing
Even though there was no jackpot winner in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing, a lot of players still walked away winners. With nine different ways to win, a total of 358,585 tickets won prizes in the August 11 drawing. That includes four tickets that each won $250,000. Since no ticket matched all six numbers to take home the jackpot, that jackpot grows to an estimated $31 million for the Tuesday, August 15, 2006 drawing.
The winning numbers in Friday’s drawing were: 14-16-38-40-49 and the Mega Ball number was 29. Here is a complete breakdown of the winning tickets:
4 tickets matched 5 numbers for $250,000
23 tickets matched 4 numbers + the Mega Ball for $10,000
831 tickets matched 4 numbers for $150
941 tickets matched 3 numbers + the Mega Ball for $150
15,649 tickets matched 2 numbers + the Mega Ball for $10
42,311 tickets matched 3 numbers for $7
100,063 tickets matched 1 number + the Mega Ball for $3
198,763 tickets matched the Mega Ball for $2
The four tickets that each won $250,000 did so by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in Georgia, Maryland, Michigan and New York.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
