Colonial Beach Man Wins $250,000 In Mega Millions Lotto

December 14, 2007
When Don Fisher of Colonial Beach realized he had a Mega Millions ticket in his possession that was worth $250,000, he had a bit of a problem. The systems engineer was working on a job that prevented him from being able to redeem the ticket for several days.
I thought, ‘What do I do with this ticket for the rest of the week he later told Virginia Lottery officials.

His ticket won Mega Millions’ second largest prize in the November 23, 2007 drawing by matching the first five numbers and missing only the Mega Ball number. The winning numbers were 18-21-33-42-56 and the Mega Ball number was 11.
He purchased the ticket at Stop In Food Store, located at 2930 Kings Highway in Colonial Beach.

Shortly after the drawing, he received a call from one of his employees saying that a winning ticket had been purchased at that store. So he pulled out his ticket and checked the winning numbers. He couldn’t believe what he saw.
I checked and checked and checked the numbers again, he said.
Mr. Fisher said he intends to invest his winnings.
