POWERBALL JACKPOT MOVES TO $48 MILLION

09/20/2007 POWERBALL JACKPOT MOVES TO $48 MILLION

TWO-$600,000 POWER PLAY PRIZES WON! 9/20/2007

Even though the grand prize was not hit Wednesday evening, Powerball paid off in big ways. Two lucky tickets in Oklahoma (1), and Pennsylvania (1) each won $600,000 cash with the Power Play option! In addition, two tickets purchased in Montana (1) and Nebraska (1) each won $200,000 for matching all 5 white numbers.

The jackpot for the Saturday, September 22 drawing will be $48 million with the cash option at $23.2 million.

The numbers drawn Wednesday evening were 20, 25, 26, 45, 46, and the Powerball was 15. The Power Play multiplier was 3.

Twenty-six tickets matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Four additional players of that prize level wisely purchased the Power Play and had their prize multiplied by 3 for a $30,000 cash win! A total of 396,218 tickets across the nation won more than $4.4 million in prizes playing America’s favorite game.

A total of 79,312 winning Powerball tickets multiplied their prize by 3 Wednesday. Players were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for $1. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings from 2-5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night’s multiplier.

Players purchased more than $27 million in tickets between Sunday and Wednesday night.

The lotteries sold $2.5 billion in Powerball tickets in fiscal year 2007. That translates into over $725 million for worthwhile state projects.
