$276.3 Million Powerball Jackpot Won in West Virginia


3/16/2008 Powerball One lucky ticket in West Virginia matched all 6 numbers Saturday and walked
away with the $276.3 million jackpot. There were a total of 1,946,282 additional winning tickets on Saturday evening. Those winners won prizes totaling $14,133,932.


The numbers drawn were 6, 22, 42, 43, 47 and the Powerball was 16. The Power Play multiplier was 2.
Twelve tickets correctly matched the 5 white numbers and won $200,000. These tickets were sold in Arizona
(1), Colorado (1), Kentucky (2), Louisiana Powerball (1), Minnesota (1), North Carolina
(2), Pennsylvania (3), and Wisconsin Powerball (1). Two other tickets at this prize level sold in Iowa
(1) and North Carolina (1), also had the Power Play and multiplied their winnings by two for a total of $400,000 cash each.



Eighty-six tickets matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Fourteen additional players not only matched 4+1, but also purchased the Power Play option, multiplying their prize by 2 for a total win of $20,000!
A total of 236,015 winning Powerball plays were multiplied by 2 Saturday evening. Winners were able to do so by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you can multiply your winnings, except for the jackpot, from 2 to 5 times. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night’s multiplier.
Players purchased $81,569,141 in Powerball and Power Play tickets between Thursday and Saturday night.
