Salina,Kansas: Exide Technologies Worker hits $20k Lottery

TOPEKA, KAN. A night shift worker at Exide Technologies in Salina
who buys lottery tickets every pay day has seen his habit pay off, in a big way!
Luis Manuel Cabral, 50, of Salina came to Lottery headquarters today with
a $2 Bonus Crossword ticket in hand, to claim a top prize of $20,000 on the game.

I bought three Bonus Crossword tickets yesterday, like I do every Thursday,
Cabral said. I scratched them while I was still in the store, also like
I always do, but this time I won like I’ve never won before!
Cabral said after realizing he had probably won $20,000, he became very
nervous. Not only did he have the store verify his win,
he had his wife and his son check the ticket, too, and
he called the Lottery office.

I wanted to be sure before we drove to Topeka, Cabral said.
Cabral and his wife Teresa moved to Salina from California 13 years ago. They have two sons, 28 and 23, and a 16-year-old daughter. The Cabrals plan to use their prize money primarily to pay off credit card bills, but Luis Cabral said he also intends to use the money to make a small gift from the heart.
We know people who are taking their baby to Kansas City every week to fix problems with the baby’s feet, he said. We want to help them out a little bit with gas money.
Luis Manuel Cabral purchased his lucky Bonus Crossword ticket at
Prime Time Stores 123, located at 100 N. Broadway in Salina.
