Watertown, SD., Man Claims $250,000 Lotto Raffle Grand Prize

Carl Umlauf of Watertown came forward today to claim the $250,000 grand prize in the Lottery’s Dakota Raffle game.
Umlauf won the prize in the New Year’s Eve drawing for the special raffle-style game.
It was the first such game the Lottery has ever offered. Umlauf’s winning ticket was number 00066161.

I got shaky, he said of having the winning ticket. I couldn’t believe it.
Umlauf, a painter at Angus-Palm in Watertown, said he had no plans yet on what to do with his prize money other than to pay some bills.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Prairie Stop in Watertown. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning quick pick ticket.
Norm Lingle, executive director of the Lottery, said 138 of the 256 winners had claimed their prizes
by Friday afternoon, nearly all for $500 prizes.
The four remaining tickets worth $25,000 were purchased in Aberdeen, Faith, Sioux Falls and Sisseton. Players have 180 days from the drawing
to claim their prizes at one of the three Lottery offices in Sioux Falls, Rapid City or Pierre or by mail.
