The Miracle Mile is back. And in a big way.

A $208 million Powerball ticket sold at Ma & Pa’s
Grocery Express, 506 S. Main St., is the single
winner in Saturday’s drawing, according to the
Wisconsin State Lottery.

It is the largest jackpot ever won in Wisconsin.

Winner numbers drawn Saturday are 2, 3, 9, 48
and 50, and the Powerball is 23.

The last Powerball jackpot in Wisconsin was won
Jan. 8, 2005, by a Thiensville man. The previous
largest jackpot in Wisconsin was the $195 million
Powerball jackpot won by an Illinois couple on
May 20, 1998.

It is the first time in a few years someone has
hit it big on what has become known as
Fond du Lac’s Miracle Mile. In the 1990s,
several people won multi-million dollar jackpots
with tickets purchased at lottery outlets on South
Main Street. Several of those businesses have since closed.

The last multi-million dollar winner at Ma & Pa’s
was in 1994 when a Mercury Marine employee hit
the Megabucks jackpot of $6.5 million. Since
then the store has sold tickets with winnings of $500,000, a couple $250,000, a couple $100,000, and Phil
and a co-worker split a $138,000 jackpot.

Ma & Pa’s co-owner Phil Moses and his sister, Gena Singleton, got a call from their newspaper delivery person
that someone from Channel 4 television in Milwaukee
was at the store shortly before 5 a.m. today.

I thought, oh no, someone broke in or something,
Moses said this morning.
