Powerball lottery rolls over to $50 million for Sat

07/12/2007 POWERBALL JACKPOT JUMPS TO $50 MILLION

TWO $1 MILLION POWER PLAY PRIZES WON! 7/12/2007

Even though the grand prize was not hit Wednesday evening, Powerball paid off in big ways. Two lucky tickets in Idaho and Indiana won $1 million with the Power Play option! In addition, two tickets in Arizona and Indiana matched all 5 white ball numbers for a $200,000 win.

The jackpot for the Saturday, July 14th drawing will be $50 million with the cash option at $22.2 million.

The numbers drawn Wednesday evening were 8, 20, 29, 42, 43, and the Powerball was 35. The Power Play multiplier was 5.

Twenty-three tickets matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. One additional players of that prize level wisely purchased the Power Play and had their prize multiplied by 5 for a $50,000 cash win! A total of 353,886 tickets across the nation won more than $5.8 million in prizes playing America’s favorite game.

A total of 70,788 winning Powerball tickets multiplied their prize by 5 Wednesday. Players were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for $1. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings from 2-5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night’s multiplier.

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels.

Players purchased more than $16.5 million in tickets between Sunday and Wednesday night.

The lotteries sold $2.5 billion in Powerball tickets in fiscal year 2007. That translates into over $725 million for worthwhile state projects.

Powerball is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
