1 winner in Rhode Island for the $151 million Powerball on 11/28/07
$151.9 MILLION POWERBALL JACKPOT WON!
Powerball One lucky ticket in Rhode Island matched all 6 numbers Wednesday evening and walked away with the $151.9 million jackpot. The holder of the winning ticket will now have to decide to either take the 29-year, 30-installment annuity, or take the one time cash “lump sum” amount of $75,231,092.
There were a total of 734,936 additional winning tickets in America’s Game Wednesday evening. Those winners won prizes totaling $6,430,720.
The winning Powerball numbers drawn were 8, 23, 32, 37, 39 and the Powerball was 38. The Power Play multiplier was 3.
Five tickets correctly matched the 5 white numbers and won $200,000. These tickets were sold in Iowa (1), Louisiana (1), North Carolina (2), and Rhode Island (1). One additional ticket in Vermont not only matched all 5 white numbers, but also had the Power Play option multiplying the normal $200,000 prize by 3 for a total win of $600,000.
Twenty-seven tickets matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Six additional players not only matched 4+1, but also purchased the Power Play option for a total win of $30,000!
A total of 108,916 winning Powerball plays were multiplied by 3 Wednesday evening. Winners were able to do so by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you can multiply your winnings, except for the jackpot, from 2 to 5 times. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night’s multiplier.
Players purchased $33,507,416 in Powerball and Power Play tickets between Sunday and Wednesday night.
The jackpot for Saturday, December 1st will be $15 million.
The lotteries sold more than $2.5 billion in Powerball tickets in FY07. That translates into more than $725 million for worthwhile state projects.
