Steve and Carolyn West said they bought $40 in tickets for Wednesday's drawing and whooped for joy when they checked the numbers.

The Medford (Ore.) Mail Tribune said the couple's teenagers let news of their good fortune slip at school Thursday, but Steve West said he wants to talk to a lawyer before he says anymore.

"I want to leave it vague," West told the newspaper. "There's a lot of scary things that I've heard. We're trying to be as careful as possible."

Oregon lottery officials said the winning ticket was purchased in Jacksonville at either Ray's Food Place or the J-Ville Tavern
