Powerball players trek to store that sold previous record winning ticket
HURRICANE, W.Va. -- With a $340 million Powerball prize up for grabs Wednesday, people showed up at the convenience store that sold the winning ticket for the multistate game's previous record jackpot, hoping lightning can strike twice in the same place.
The pilgrimage to C&L Super Serve in Hurricane in south central West Virginia began in earnest after the jackpot grew past $200 million. With Wednesday's drawing offering a record Powerball prize and the second-richest lottery jackpot in U.S. history, sales have only increased.
"They definitely think the bigger the jackpot, the more chance they'll have to win," manager Andi Perrine said.
